Sixty-one individuals assembled at the London
Institute for Education, March 18-20, 2007, to discuss the formation of
a new international federation to promote the advancement of learning
technology. Representatives came from Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, Hungary, Japan, Korea, Mexico, Norway, Singapore, Switzerland, UK, and the US.
These included representatives from national standards bodies, learning
industry associations, learning technology vendors, and eLearning
innovators from academia, industry, and government. This new
organization is intended to reflect the global stakeholders in all
segments of the learning technology market: compulsory education,
higher education, continuing education, and corporate training and
on-the-job support.
Notes and presentations from the London meetings are
posted on this site, which has been built to support open discussion
about the mission, scope, membership, governance, and operations of a
future-oriented, global collaboration to advance the interoperability
of learning systems. The working name for the new federation is LETSI, Learning-Education-Training Systems Interoperability.
