HunterStone, a Columbia based firm and graduate of the USC Technology Incubator, announced it has started delivering on a three year licensing agreement with Microsoft providing software that can be installed within the popular Microsoft Office applications such as Microsoft Office Word, the Microsoft Office PowerPoint® presentation graphics program, and Microsoft Office Excel® spreadsheet software.
HunterStone's THESIS software provides a simple yet cost effective and time saving method for e-Learning course designers and content authors to convert Microsoft Office files to Shareable Content Object Reference Model (SCORM) compliant database objects. SCORM, originally developed by the United States Department of Defense, has become the defacto standard for creating e-Learning courses.
The basic version of THESIS provides the SCORM Tools feature in Microsoft's Learning Essentials for Microsoft Office, a set of education-specific tools for students and educators with curriculum-based templates, toolbars and tutorials. Learning Essentials is available at no additional cost to academic institutions that are using Microsoft Office XP or 2003 (media costs may apply). Free downloads of Learning Essentials with the THESIS-based SCORM Tools for English, French, German, Italian, Norwegian and Spanish is available at www.microsoft.com/learningessentials
